A debate on whether women overreact to sexual harassment and a humorous segment on the proportionate number of men to women in Alaska are among stories scheduled to be covered on Lifetime cable network’s new women’s news magazine, which premieres Sunday.

Produced in New York with ABC News, the new hourlong “Lifetime Magazine” will appear at 9 p.m. Sundays.

Lisa McRee, who was co-anchor of ABC’s overnight news program, “World News Now,” will anchor the weekly women’s program.

“Like most news magazines, we’ll have a couple of longer pieces and a short, lighter piece,” McRee said. “What will be different about our magazine, I hope, is that we’ll be looking at topics you may or may not have heard about.”

One example, McRee said, is the “T-type woman,” the mental thrill-seeker who takes the risks necessary to climb the corporate ladder. McRee says that some psychologists have found “that once (T-type women) break the glass ceiling and rise to the top, they won’t remain there unless they change their personalities.

“Once one gets to the top, corporate America does not accept T-types,” she said. “Men, because of their experience growing up with team sports, find their niche on a team of leaders and stop fighting. Some women have that instinct, but others, once they have fought their way to the top, feel frustrated.”

There is an audience for a women’s TV news magazine, McRee said, because although “women’s and men’s experience today overlaps a great deal, there are still unique differences.

“Our society is not of one voice,” said McRee, who hopes the show will appeal to men and women.

In addition to her anchor duties, McRee will be a correspondent for “Lifetime Magazine,” reporting on one segment of the program each week. Other ABC correspondents and free-lance television journalists will contribute, she said.
