The article by Jim Mateja in Transportation (Dec. 19) falls short of telling the whole story on the benefits of electric cars (“Electrics face battery of tests”).
Mateja points out the negatives of the electric car when a family is on a two-week vacation and traveling across country. How about the other 50 weeks when this car would be a better mode of transportation than the gas cars we have to drive to work, school or numerous other short trips?
I am sure the oil companies enjoyed the story.
