After a last-second loss Tuesday to Red South rival Carver, Simeon coach Bob Hambric didn’t say much to his team.

He saved his words for Thursday, telling his team, “If you play like you did Tuesday, we’ll have two losses in the section.”

Properly motivated, No. 4 Simeon (10-2) used a 19-9 second-quarter edge to hammer Morgan Park 85-58 and even its Red South record at 1-1. Bryant Notree led the way with 26 points. Kevin Turner added 23 and Jerome Freeman 12.

Timothy Freeman scored 25 points and Chris Morrow 19 for Morgan Park (5-6, 0-1).

Carver 61, Hyde Park 23: No. 5 Carver (15-1) committed 17 turnovers, but received 16 points from Roy Majors, 13 from Marcel O’Neal and 11 from Andre Jackson in this non-conference matchup. Carver scored the game’s first 16 points before heading into halftime with a 32-10 advantage.

“We didn`t really play according to our standards,” Carver coach Donald Pittman said. “We committed 17 turnovers against a team that didn’t even press.”

Lincoln Park 79, Manley 73: Randall Scott poured in 30 points and John Owens chipped in 23 as No. 18 Lincoln Park prevailed in the Red West. Lincoln Park used a 23-7 second-quarter burst to take a 37-22 halftime lead. Anton Hall scored 13 points to lead Manley.

Young 77, Collins 65: In the Red West, Young got 20 points and 14 rebounds from Thomas Alexander and 13 points and 10 blocks from Horris Pollard. Ben Sankey added 16 points for the Dolphins (11-3, 2-0) and Jabu Brown pitched in with 10 points and eight assists.

Fenger 69, South Shore 57: John Jolly scored 18 points and Levi Funches and David Hamilton 14 apiece to lead Fenger in the Red South.

Kenwood 85, Washington 57: Corey Lockwood scored 29 points and Nazr Mohammad added 24 to help Kenwood race to a 26-6 first-quarter lead en route to the Blue South victory.

Bowen 67, Chicago Vocational 53: Ortiz Glave led Bowen with 23 points and Antoine Howard contributed 19 as the Boilermakers built a 40-20 halftime lead and cruised in the Blue South.

Wells 50, Austin 44: Issac Chew led Wells’ attack with 20 points and Anthony Moore added 12 in the Blue West victory. Dwayne Dean’s 15 points were tops for Austin.

Near North 136, Cregier 50: Eric Cotton netted 32 points and John Washington 25 as Near North (10-4, 2-0) coasted in the Blue West.

Orr 81, Spalding 67: Marcellus Patton tossed in 19 points to lead Orr in the Blue West. William Chandler’s 22 points were tops for Spalding.

Cathedral 66, North Shore Country Day 55: Andre Blakely scored 26 to lead Cathedral (7-5) to the non-conference win.
