Joseph D. Petrando, 53, of Fox Lake, a former compositor for the Chicago Tribune, died Thursday in Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington. A former resident of Lake Zurich, Mr. Petrando worked for the Tribune for more than 25 years. He also was an officer with the Kildeer Police Department and was an emergency medical technician for Lake Zurich. He is survived by his wife, Patricia; two daughters, Lee Ann Swierczewki and Beth Sue Petrando; and three grandchildren. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday in K.K. Hamsher Funeral Home, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake. Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Bede’s Catholic Church, 5 Wilson Rd., Ingleside.
