INSOMNIA ATTACK: Reading in bed helps many people relax, but it’s not a good method if your insomnia is chronic. Reading is a waking activity and shouldn’t be done in bed because you have to keep yourself awake to read. And if you are an insomniac, that is not a good thing to do. Get up and read and go back to bed when you get sleepy.
MIGHTY MISO: Miso is a fermented soybean paste rich in protein, minerals and B-vitamins, low in fat and without cholesterol. The bacterial culture in miso enhances overall digestion and may enhance immunity against bacterial diseases. But it is high in sodium and should be avoided by those on salt-restricted diets.
PROPER CARE: To reduce food poisoning such as that caused by E. coli bacteria, the USDA and the food industry say to keep meat and poultry frozen or refrigerated, thaw meats in the refrigerator or microwave, keep raw meats away from other foods, wash all working surfaces and hands after touching raw meat and poultry, cook meats thoroughly, and refrigerate the leftovers within two hours.
