Ameritech is appointing the president of Columbia TriStar Home Video an executive vice president to help position the company for the day when it offers video services to customers in competition with cable television.
W. Patrick Campbell, who since 1989 has been president of TriStar, a Sony Pictures Entertainment unit, will join Ameritech at the end of this month as executive vice president, corporate strategy.
“Pat brings Ameritech a unique perspective from the video-entertainment world as we continue to evolve into a full-service communications company, and we are delighted to have someone of Pat’s caliber join our executive team,” Richard C. Notebaert, Ameritech’s president and chief executive, said Wednesday.
Ameritech also announced several other personnel shifts.
Walter S. Catlow, president of Ameritech long-distance industry services, will become an executive vice president responsible for international business development.
Richard H. Brown, Ameritech vice chairman, will assume several roles, including pay-phone and long-distance information industries, as well as his role as chief handler of governmental affairs.
Ronald L. Blake, Ameritech vice president and treasurer, will become president of Ameritech long-distance industry services, succeeding Catlow.
