I commend the Clinton administration’s anti-crime package. I believe this is a good start to relieve some of the violence in our communities. I also believe we need even more aggressive tactics.

First, we need to ban the manufacturing of weapons in our country for the next five years. Second, we need to ban the importing of weapons into our country for five years. Third, we need to increase the penalties of using a gun in the commission of a crime by making it a federal offense. Fourth, we need to educate our children in the primary ages about conflict resolution and alternatives to violence. Finally, we need to increase funding for after-school programs for our teens.
