I have probably been in Chicago five times in my life. I’m 62.

Our news is full of disgusting and negative stuff. So, how about some upbeat diversion: About 9 p.m. Jan. 9, my wife and I were trying to get into the Days Inn next to the Congress Hotel on South Michigan Ave. Two problems: The door was locked and our actual reservation was for another hotel. My own mistake.

A policewoman and a policeman team responded to our request for help in a fashion straight from Norman Rockwell’s view of life and decency and goodwill and simplicity and un-self-consciousness.

They are two wonderful people who serve your community well. They certainly served two Wisconsin visitors graciously; probably do it a lot.
