City manager Rick Curneal has received an 8 percent raise from the City Council.
Curneal’s $4,960 raise to $66,960 was his first since taking the job 14 months ago, said Ald. Ken Johnson.
The percentage increase matched the average given to all city workers last year.
“He’s the only employee in the entire city who didn’t (get a raise), so we’re playing catch up with him,” Johnson said.
The raise followed Curneal’s first performance review, given this month as scheduled in his contract, Johnson said. He said Curneal got high marks from council members.
Curneal has done well at tasks ranging from planning to solving residents’ problems, such as potholes, Johnson said. And the merger of the Waste Water and Public Works Departments proposed by Curneal saved the city $50,000, Johnson said.
The raise makes Curneal the highest-paid city employee, said finance director Pete Stefan. Johnson said pay was the only change in Curneal’s contract.
