Recently the Anti-Cruelty Society has been flooded with calls from compassionate people who called to report animals that were left outside during the cold weather. We appreciate all the calls that we received but would like to ask all these people not to wait for the severe weather but to call us whenever they see an animal without shelter-no matter what the temperature.

It is against the law for an animal to be outside without proper shelter. Proper shelter does not mean lying in the shade of a tree, crouching under a porch, huddling in the back seat of an abandoned car or the other supposed “shelters” we see every day.

The Anti-Cruelty Society investigates all calls we receive, including those given to us anonymously. Please call us if you see signs of neglect, abuse or abandonment. We will do our best to insure that the animal’s surroundings are improved and if we feel that the situation has not improved, we will impound the animal.
