A man freed on $175,000 bond after being charged with the murder of his girlfriend’s 8-month-old daughter has been arrested again in connection with the burglary of the former girlfriend’s car last month.
David Lightsey, 34, had been accused of fatally injuring Tiffany Hughes last July 4 after offering to baby-sit the child while her mother, Michelle Hughes, went shopping.
The Cook County medical examiner’s office ruled Tiffany’s death a homicide caused by brain and skull injuries. The office determined she had previously suffered fractured ribs, which had healed, and other bruises.
Lightsey pleaded innocent to the charges and was released from jail when relatives put up $17,500 in July.
Lightsey was arraigned on the burglary charge Wednesday before Kane County Circuit Judge James Doyle.
Lightsey will appear before him again Feb. 24 for a status hearing on both the burglary and murder charges.
