The choruses of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Lyric Opera of Chicago will join forces for the first time here April 24 to present the North American premiere of Polish composer Henryk Gorecki’s “Miserere,” under the direction of John Nelson. The 1981 unaccompanied choral work, dedicated to Poland’s Solidarity movement, will be part of an all-Gorecki choral program at the recently restored Church of St. Mary of the Angels, 1850 N. Hermitage Ave. Also participating will be Chicago’s Lira Chamber Chorus under Lucy J. Ding. Admission to the 3 p.m. concert is free on a first-come, first-served basis. However, reserved tickets at $25 will be sold in advance, and $100 benefit tickets will include a post-concert reception with the composer. Phone 312-539-4900.
