Fines of $40 and three months’ court supervision were imposed Monday in Cook County Circuit Court to 35 men arrested in Cicero last month on vice-related charges stemming from a police sting operation.
The solicitation charges, all misdemeanors, came as a result of a two-night operation along Cicero Avenue, during which members of the Cook County sheriff’s vice unit posed as prostitutes.
The operation, conducted jointly with Cicero police, led to the arrest of 48 men, mostly from the suburbs, who ranged in age from 18 to 64. Thirty-five men pleaded guilty. Warrants were issued for 10 others who failed to appear Monday. The remaining cases are pending.
In a related matter, the Cicero Town Board voted unanimously Tuesday to adopt an ordinance that licenses and regulates adult uses in the suburb, parts of which have a long history of vice-related activity.
