Trying to raise revenues without raising property taxes, village officials have voted to raise parking fees and fines. They also are looking at establishing a $50 annual license fee for vending machines.
As of May 1, the daily parking fee at the Chicago & North Western commuter parking lot will increase to $2 from $1 a day, while the cost of an annual parking permit will rise to $250 from $180.
Also on that day, the fine for overnight parking on village streets will increase to $10 from $5.
Lake Bluff director of finance Susan Griffin estimated the parking lot fee increase could generate an additional $14,000, while revenues from parking fines could go up by $2,000. Griffin said the potential income from a vending machine fee has not yet been calculated.
