I feel compelled to respond to the letter by Edward Stein, “Disarm the U.S.” (June 21).
His suggestion that “we should get rid of the 2nd Amendment and disarm the country, etc.” scares the daylight out of me. Thank God for giving the founders of our Constitution, including the 1st Amendment, such great wisdom so Mr. Stein may be able to babble stupid stuff.
I do hope that most Americans still believe that the Constitution has served its citizens well, is serving us well now and will continue to serve us well.
When I hoist my Stars and Stripes on the 4th of July, I shall think about the day when a federal judge swore me in as a new U.S. citizen and I proudly recited my first pledge of allegiance. I love my adopted country and fought for it in Korea.
