A 54-year-old Chicago man died Saturday after being hit by a northbound bus at Michigan Avenue and Harrison Street, authorities said.

Vaclav Sevruk of 7151 S. Troy St. slipped off the sidewalk and stumbled into the busy intersection, landing in front of the Chicago Transit Authority bus, said Chicago Police Sgt. Bill Kaupert. According to Kaupert, Sevruk was drunk when the accident occurred about 10 a.m.

Sevruk was pronounced dead by the Cook County medical examiner’s office at 11 a.m., authorities said

Armzella Brooks, 44, a driver for the Chicago Transit Authority, was charged with striking a pedestrian and was expected to appear in Traffic Court, Kaupert said.
