Margaret Moran, 106, who was born into a pioneer family in Furgis Falls, Minn., died Monday at Ballard Health Care Residence in Des Plaines. In 1892, her family moved to Seattle, where she spent about 75 years. More than 20 of those years were spent working behind lunch counters in Seattle’s historic Pike Street Market. She retired after nearly 15 years with the Sunset Electric Co., Seattle, in 1956. She was a 56-year member and past tent president of the Daughters of the Union Veterans of the Civil War. She lived in Northbrook for five years before moving to Des Plaines in 1988. She is survived by three grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, including Tribune associate graphics editor Nancy Reese; and seven great-great-grandchildren. Services will be private.
