I am writing in regards to the review by Greg Kot of the Pink Floyd concert (July 14). I must take umbrage with Mr. Kot’s description of its performance as “anonymous.” I have been a fan of Pink Floyd for years, and, although its more recent musical endeavors sadly lack Roger Water’s finesse, the band can certainly still pack a sold-out crowd in Soldier Field.

When the band began with Water, Syd Barrett, Nick Mason and Rick Wright 20-plus years ago, its performances created a surreal atmosphere by experimenting with bizarre synthesized sounds and crazy multicolored lights that pulsed with the beat of the music. Their style of music and performance has persevered for two decades and has inspired musicians around the world. Take away its expensive land of special-effects and you take away the very image it maintains.

I had a fantastic time at the concert and I certainly wouldn’t think twice about doing it all over again.
