Wisconsin Central Transportation Corp., the Rosemont-based regional railroad company, announed it had acquired the 320-mile-long Algoma Central Corp. railroad in Ontario, Canada, for $24.4 million. The railroad will be operated by WC Canada Holdings Inc., Wisconsin Central’s newly formed, wholly owned Canadian subsidiary.
