The prominence that the Tribune is placing on the need to prevent child abuse and neglect helps all of society recognize the part each of us must play in protecting our children. It’s critical to understand the struggles so many families face, but more importantly, people need to hear about the programs the “Saving Our Children” series highlights.
Thank you for acknowledging in the Aug. 21 Tribune that Parents Anonymous, a service of Children’s Home & Aid Society of Illinois, is one of the programs that helps.
Parents Anonymous indeed gives hope to families through the “support and sense of security” provided by the groups, meeting weekly in 40 communities across the state. I am pleased we are now in a position to expand our efforts into neighborhoods of Chicago. Due to the generosity of the Polk Brothers Family Foundation, local groups are now being established across the city. As with all Parents Anonymous groups, parents participate free of charge.
