“Congress shall make no law respecting the establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.”

This is what the 1st Amendment of the Constitution says. However, our federal courts rule on lots of religious issues. The writers of the Constitution forgot to say that the federal courts should not rule on religious matters.

I believe that the income tax code clearly violates the 1st Amendment. Why? We are allowed to deduct contributions to churches. Isn’t this a “law respecting the establishment of religion?”
