Honoring teachers: The Golden Apple Foundation is looking for a few good Chicago-area high-school teachers, 10 to be exact, for the 1995 Golden Apple Awards. “The purpose of the award is to promote excellence in classroom teaching,” says foundation spokeswoman Betty Gardiner. “If you have excellent teachers, you will mitigate other factors that contribute to less-than-ideal teaching.” Anyone may nominate a high school teacher before Dec. 2.
