Howard Weinstein has been appointed president of the property division of Koll (formerly Koll/Rubloff) in Chicago. He is responsible for coordinating property management activities for Koll offices nationwide. Previously, Weinstein headed the Midwest division of Koll.

Last month, Koll, which is based in Newport Beach, Calif., relocated its Chicago headquarters to 10 South LaSalle Street and occupies the 26th floor there.

New BOMI chairman

BOMI Institute, which provides professional education to commercial property professionals in the U.S. and Canada, has elected Mary L. Lowe, as its chairman. She also was named property manager of the year by her employer, Cushman & Wakefield of Illinois.

A 25-year veteran of the commercial property industry, Lowe holds a Real Property Administrator designation from the Arnold, Md.-based BOMI Institute.

On the move

– Debra Conrardy Mitchell, formerly first deputy commissioner in Chicago’s Department of Planning and Development, has joined The John Buck Co., Chicago, as a vice president in the firm’s corporate services division. She will handle project management, new business development and investment advisory services for the company.

– Stein & Co., Chicago, has hired Philip J. Simborg as senior vice president of corporate accounts in its investor services business unit. He will handle AT&T property dispositions in the Midwest. Simborg was previously with Grubb & Ellis.

– Llani O’Connor, executive vice president of BOMA/Chicago, has been appointed to the BOMA (Building Owners and Managers Association) International board of directors. She also is chairman of BOMA International’s executives council. She is exploring on-line links for local BOMA affiliates.

– U.S. Equities Development Inc. has added two vice presidents: Alan Schachtman, formerly a vice president of Schal Bovis Inc., will work with the firm’s North Loop redevelopment team; and Alan Draht, formerly a vice president of construction and development at Orix Real Estate Equities Inc., will oversee completion of the plaza at the John Hancock Center.

– The RREEF Funds, Chicago, has expanded its securities group and has added three staff members. Michael S. Young is now director of quantitative research. Previously, Young was a manager in the firm’s research department. Natalie Stern, who had been a financial analyst in the acquisitions department, is now a managing analyst. And Jill Hollup, securities analyst, joined the RREEF Funds from Liquidity Financial Group.

– Julien J. Studley Inc. has promoted three Chicago executives to the position of senior managing director: David J. Gelfand, who joined Studley in 1986 and specializes in representing law, financial services and consulting firms; Gregory Gerber, who handles facilities cost reduction plans for large companies; and John J. Goodman, who joined the firm in 1985 and also acts as co-branch manager in Chicago.

– Bradley J. Culp has been named practice director of the newly formed information technology division at Kenneth Leventhal & Co. Chicago/Midwest. The group will focus on providing information system solutions to the company’s real estate clients. Previously, Culp was a senior manager at Andersen Consulting.

– RELO, the international relocation network, Chicago, has hired Mike Farrell as vice president of corporate services. In the past, he held senior management positions at Relocation Resources Inc. and Coldwell Banker Relocation Services.

– Michael Shindler has been promoted to senior vice president of development at Hyatt Hotels Corp. He will supervise all Hyatt hotel transactions and act as general counsel for the company.

– Tom Terry has been named to head First American Title Insurance Co.’s new McHenry County office in Crystal Lake. Terry had been Chicago operations manager in the company’s Cook County office, Chicago.

– Mary Anne Cappo and Laurie Vree have been promoted to senior loan officers at CDK Mortgage, Evanston.

– The John Buck Company, Chicago, has hired Charles Porter as vice president. Previously, Porter worked for the Chicago-based brokerage firm Realsource.
