The Chicago Tribune’s account of the Notre Dame-Michigan football rivalry (Sept. 7) contains one startling inaccuracy, particularly for a Chicago newspaper. You state that the University of Michigan “is the only school in the nation to have a winning record against Notre Dame after playing the Irish more than once.”
Not so! The best overall record of Notre Dame’s football opponents is that of the University of Chicago, whose 4-0 against the Irish tops the list. Obviously, the U. of C.’s list of Nobel Prize winners is not its only significant distinction.
