Conseco Inc. said it plans to sell debt securities that will be converted to common shares in its Western National subsidiary to help pay the cash portion of Conseco’s $3.25 billion acquisition of Kemper Corp. of Long Grove. The Carmel, Ind.-based insurance holding company also said it continues to explore the sale of its equity stake in two other insurers, Bankers Life Holding and CCP Insurance. It added that asset sales aren’t necessary to finance the Kemper acquisition.
