Magic, illusions, ghosts and goblins are in store for an early Halloween celebration with David Seebach’s “Illusions in the Night” show at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Paramount Arts Centre in Aurora.
Seebach is known for his showmanship and light-hearted stage presence as well as his magic skills. With his onstage partner (and offstage wife), Lisa Joy, the show combines mystery, comedy and bright costumes for a show that is appropriate for the entire family.

– Hollywood Casino-Aurora has announced the cancellation of two shows at the Paramount Arts Centre this fall: Paul Anka, who had been scheduled for Oct. 28 and 29; and Willie Nelson, Nov. 11 and 12. New performance dates have not been announced.

– Dave Brubeck, who has been prominent in the jazz world for more than 40 years and, at age 74, performs 80 one-nighters per year, will perform at 8 p.m. Friday at the Rialto Square Theatre, 102 N. Chicago St., Joliet.
Joining pianist Brubeck will be Randy Jones on drums, Jack Six on bass and Bobby Militello on flute and saxophone.

– The Leontovych String Quartet will perform a concert of classical music at 3 p.m. Sunday for the Artists Showcase West concert series. The concert will be staged at Downers Grove North High School, 4436 Main St., Downers Grove.
The New York-based ensemble, whose members are natives of Ukraine, won the Leo Weiner International String Quartet Competition in Budapest and was the recipient of the Lysenko Republican award for popularizing Ukrainian chamber music.
Their repertoire will include Haydn’s Quartet in D Major, Op. 76, No. 5; Shostakovich’s Quartet No. 8 in C minor, Op. 110; and Tchaikovsky’s Quartet No. 2, Op. 22.

– The popular Chicago blues singer Joe Williams will team up with the Jazz Ensemble for its opening concerts at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the College of DuPage Arts Center, 22nd Street and Park Boulevard, Glen Ellyn.
Williams performed with Count Basie’s band in the mid-1950s in New York and performed on several Basie hits, including “Every Day (I Have the Blues)” and “Alright, OK, You Win.” He performs blues and jazz frequently with symphony orchestras as well as big bands.
