I would like to commend Tribune writer John Gorman for his article about Daryl Bell Jr.’s death from child abuse (Nov. 1). The article contained horrifying and heartbreaking details about the last day of Daryl’s life.
Because these details were printed, Daryl became a real little boy who faced inhuman horror. Readers are outraged, then grief-stricken and finally more cognizant, thoughtful and vigilant about child abuse. This is how child abuse should be reported-not a short paragraph in the Metropolitan report.
