The village and Park District will share a $48,000 state grant to plant trees in parks and along major streets.

Trustees approved a contract with the Illinois Department of Conservation to accept the grant and match it with $25,000 in village funds to finance this year’s planned 200-tree parkway planting, which will cost a total of $62,500.

The Park District will get $10,500 of the grant.

The trees will be planted late next spring, said village services director Michael Marchi.
