Fast pace: Shoppers are unbundling their wallets and splurging a bit, retailers said Monday, as buying has been brisk during the first days of holiday shopping. “Overall, there have been very strong crowds,” said spokeswoman Gail Dorn, of Dayton-Hudson Corp., which operates stores including Target and Marshall Field’s. MasterCard International, which handles credit card transactions through 22,000 financial institutions, said U.S. sales authorizations jumped 36 percent on Friday from a year earlier, to $726.6 million.
