The Tennessee Valley Authority will not complete three unfinished nuclear reactors because it needs to move beyond “outdated policies,” its chairman said Monday. TVA “will not, by itself, complete” one of two reactors at the Watts Bar plant near Spring City, Tenn., and the two-reactor Bellefonte plant near Hollywood, Ala., chairman Craven Crowell said. “Today we are still building nuclear plants and piling up debt guided by policies that are decades out of date,” Crowell said. “The TVA board believes it’s time for a change-time to recognize that policies conceived decades ago are no longer adequate as we approach the 21st Century.”
