The Rockers set a CBA record by holding the Hartford Hellcats to 24 first-half points Wednesday night en route to a 104-66 victory at the UIC Pavilion.

The old record for fewest points in a half was set on March 7, 1993, when Tri-City held the Wichita Falls Texans to 25 first-half points.

“There’s no question defensively our effort was solid for the whole game,” said Rockers coach John Treloar. “We have been trying to improve as a team defensively. Tonight it came together as teammates were helping each other out.

“Hartford was down tonight. They didn’t play well, and we caught them at a good time.”

Stephen Bardo scored 23 points and Derrick Phelps added 22 as the Rockers improved to 10-3.

The Rockers led 14-9 after the first quarter and coasted to a 41-24 halftime lead.

Kelsey Weems paced Hartford (1-11) with 14 points.
