`I read it in the Chicago Tribune’s Friday section.”
Those magic words can transform your New Year’s Eve. Those words could get you a pair of primo seats to the hottest shows in town, a reserved table at any of 45 top Chicago restaurants, guaranteed admission to a hotel package-even a lake cruise with dinner and dancing.
But you’ve got to be quick.
With the kind cooperation of some of Chicago’s finest entertainment venues, we have arranged to set aside tickets and reservations to dozens of New Year’s Eve events. Nightclubs, restaurants, theaters, hotels-all are holding tickets for some lucky Friday readers.
Here’s how it works. The tickets or reservations are being held for the first caller or callers (the number of tickets/reservations varies with the venue, as we will make clear later) who identify themselves as Friday readers. Those lucky early birds will have the opportunity to buy those tickets or reserve that table.
Note the use of the word “buy.” Please understand that these are not freebies. They are not discounts. These are full-freight, suggested retail, tax-and-tip-not-included prices. But they are, in almost every instance, the last available tickets and reservations to these places, which sold out long ago.
Have your credit card handy; nearly all these venues require advance payment, or a substantial deposit, to guard against no-shows.
Ladies and gentlemen, start your speed dials.
