Demand mushrooms: USX Corp. Chairman Charles A. Corry said the company’s U.S. Steel Group has booked as much business as it can handle for the first quarter. In Pittsburgh, Corry said order rates are exceeding the company’s shipping ability. But he said he doesn’t expect January shipments to top December’s 1 million tons because customers last quarter were rushing to buy steel in advance of a Jan. 1 spot-market price increase averaging 5 to 6 percent. For 1995, Corry said he expects demand for steel to remain about the same as in 1994, when domestic shipments reached about 95 million tons.
