The Alliance of Residents Concerning O’Hare, a citizens group for restrictions on airport noise and air pollution, criticized a proposal by Chicag Mayor Richard Daley for a noise budget for O’Hare Internationl Airport.
At a meeting Thursday night, members of the alliance said Daley’s proposal to create a noise budget for the airport wouldn’t adequately address residents’ concerns about noise, air pollution and safety.
The alliance advocates a reduction in last year’s 883,000 takeoffs and landings at the airport, to the 740,000-level recommended by the Federal Aviation Administration.
“It’s just window dressing,” said the alliance’s director, Jack Saporito, of Daley’s proposal.
