A 5-year-old boy went home from the hospital Tuesday after a car hit him while he was walking home from school Monday.

Luisge Luna, a kindergartner at Pioneer School, was injured while crossing the street in the 400 block of Ann Street. He suffered a broken ankle as well as knee and head injuries and scrapes and bruises, Pioneer Principal Patti Hooser said.

“He seems to be doing well,” Hooser added. “Overall, he’s a lucky little guy.”

West Chicago police said they are investigating the incident.
