Denny Neagle won his fourth consecutive start as Pittsburgh scored eight runs in the third inning and beat Colorado.

The Pirates have won eight of 10 games. Colorado has a season-high four-game losing streak and eight losses in 11 games.

Pittaburgh had seven hits–six of them singles–three walks, an error and two wild pitches against Bill Swift (1-1) and reliever Roger Bailey in the third. It was the Pirates’ biggest one-inning outburst since they scored 11 runs against Cincinnati on May 4, 1992.
