I took a particular interest in the letter “War of words” (Voice, May 6). The writer took liberty in equating conservative leaders to Nazis or white supremacist hatemongers.

The list of conservatives in the column were: Rush Limbaugh, Newt Gingrich, G. Gordon Liddy, Robert Dole, Oliver North, Phil Gramm, Bob Grant, Jesse Helms, Pat Buchanan or “other well-known conservatives.” The author suggested that every time these conservatives “use the word `liberal,’ substitute the word `black’ or `Jew’ and then tell me who they remind you of?”

Just like a liberal to put words into your mouth, I thought. What’s so unnerving about liberals like this one is that when they want to dish out criticisms, it’s perfectly within the realm of their “constitutional rights.” But dare to critique their ineptitude and you then become a certified hatemonger.

What I also find distasteful is that liberals are exploiting the bombing in Oklahoma by grasping at it as a way to blame conservative radio hosts like Limbaugh for that disaster. Please. Put blame where blame is due. It was the horrific act of a misguided, warped mind.
