Wayne E. Doane, 72, a retired grain salesman who served three terms on the Marengo City Council, died Tuesday in Florence Nursing Home in Marengo. He was born in Greenfield, Iowa, and was in the Army in World War II. He is survived by his wife, Esther; two daughters, Kathy Pace and Kris Whitney; four sons, Joseph, Jeff, Jerry and James; a brother; two sisters; 11 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday in Marengo-Union Funeral Home, 505 E. Grant Highway, Marengo. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Zion Lutheran Church, 408 Jackson St., Marengo.
