The University of Alabama disclosed Friday that football coach Gene Stallings and Athletic Director Hootie Ingram have been rebuked in response to alleged violation of NCAA rules.
Stallings was admonished by President Roger Sayers in January for not having a better grasp of NCAA rules in the case of former defensive back Antonio Langham, who signed with an agent in January 1993, mentioned it to Stallings and played 11 games before being declared ineligible.
Ingram and faculty representative Tom Jones drew a more severe a reprimand.
“A letter of reprimand in your case only underscores the necessity for all involved in the compliance process to redouble their efforts,” Sayers wrote on March 20 to Ingram.
Sayers’ letters were among of documents released by the university on the eve of its first trip before the Committee on Infractions. Alabama is accused of a “lack of appropriate institutional control.”
