Starting next year, students in North Palos District 117 will no longer take Iowa standarized tests, but they will continue to be tested through the state-mandated Illinois Goals Assessment Program.
The school board’s decision last week to cut the Iowa test was a practical one, said Assistant Supt. Judi Martschinke. The move will save instructional time and money, she said.
Since the state’s testing has expanded in recent years to every grade level, there’s no need to continue with the annual Iowa test.
