A driver assaulted two officers trying to arrest him Sunday, police said. Andrew E. Westgard, 26, of 417 W. Dowell Rd., McHenry, was charged with resisting arrest, battery to a police officer, driving under the influence, improper lane usage, driving an uninsured vehicle, operating a vehicle with no rear plate light, improper display of registration and unlawful use of a weapon, police said. Police said Westgard cut the finger of one of the arresting officers during the struggle. Officers said Westgard had a martial arts weapon in his pickup when he was arrested. Westgard was taken to the McHenry County Jail, police said.
