Rich Becker’s RBI single in the ninth gave the Twins their first series win of the season.
Becker singled up the middle with one out in the ninth off Jim Corsi (2-3), who has lost each of his last three outings. Dave Stevens (3-0) got two outs in the eighth and Rick Aguilera pitched the ninth for his 10th save.
It was the first game this season the Twins won by scoring fewer than four runs.
Craig Paquette’s second solo homer of the game for Oakland, in the eighth inning, tied the game 2-2.
