A federal jury Thursday deadlocked on the two remaining criminal charges against former Ohio congressman Donald Lukens, forcing the judge to declare a mistrial.

The district court jury Wednesday acquitted Lukens on three counts of bribery.

The panel then resumed deliberations for the third day but could not reach a verdict on the two remaining charges of conspirary and bribery.

Lukens, a Republican, had been charged with taking a total of $27,500 in payments in exchange for using his congressional influence in 1990 to help officials of an Ohio trade school.
