Former Village President Donald R. Brewer has announced his bid for a District 1 seat on the McHenry County Board.

Brewer, 51, an attorney and a Republican, has lived in the village 21 years and runs a law office there. He was village president from 1989 to 1993.

A member of the Economic Development Commission, Brewer also sits on the board of directors for Midwest Bank and the Transportation Committee of the McHenry County Economic Development Commission.

“He is very closely attuned to the people in this district,” Village President Ted Spella said. “I think Don would represent this district very well.”

Brewer said transportation and regional planning are two tough issues facing the county.

“We’ve got to come to grips with this,” he said. “I think the County Board can be more instrumental in doing that.”

Two of the four District 1 seats are up for re-election in November of 1996.
