Four teenage members of the Fox River Valley Baptist Church told police Sunday that they were chased on church property by a man with a rifle. The man also allegedly detained two of the teens at gunpoint.
Daniel Williams, 28, 37 W 664 Oak St., Aurora, was charged with aggravated unlawful restraint, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm without valid identification in the incident. Police said Williams told them he thought the four teens had shot at his barn, so he chased them onto church grounds at 4 S 040 Randall Rd.
The boys told police they were walking back to the church from a creek on church property when a man screamed at them to stop. The suspect then allegedly fired a gun in the air, causing two of the boys to run and two to stop.
The man ordered the two to the ground at gunpoint and identified himself as a Kane County sheriff’s deputy, police said.
