A man who is accused of fighting with officers Tuesday afternoon during questioning in the city jail was charged with battery to a police officer and resisting arrest, authorities said. Anthony Turner, 31, of 1170 Apple Lane, Apt. E, Elgin, was in custody for an unspecified charge and was being interviewed when he allegedly damaged furniture and punched an officer and spit on him, police said.
