The board of School District 46 gave preliminary approval Monday night to the purchase of $1.1 million worth of buses.
The cost covers 14 passenger buses with capacity for 68 passengers, two 35-passenger buses, 10 21-passenger buses, and 2 lift buses adapted for wheelchairs. Most of the buses will replace buses now in use.
The board will choose from bids submitted by four dealers in a vote at the next meeting Dec. 18 in the Administration Building, 355 E. Chicago St. The board’s administrative staff has recommended accepting the low bid from Midwest Navistar.
The new buses are to be delivered in July.
