Coleman’s Place Restaurant may be replaced on Northwest Highway with rows of new vehicles if a Pontiac-GMC Truck dealership meets City Council approval Tuesday night.
Zoning Board of Appeals members last week approved plans presented by Argonaut Holdings Inc., owner of Crystal Lake Pontiac-GMC Truck, which has been in a temporary location at the intersection of Illinois Highways 31 and 176.
Argonaut plans to raze Coleman’s and an adjacent, vacant motel, at 6403 Northwest Highway, and build a 13,000-square-foot showroom.
The Zoning Board also recommended the City Council allow the dealership a variance to have a 30-foot-tall sign, although city ordinance permits signs no higher than 20 feet.
