I believe David Broder’s Dec. 6 Op-Ed column makes an excellent point for congressional term limits. Entrenched longtime members of Congress wield too much clout, with almost complete control of committees for many years. If all states had term limits on a staggered basis, chairmanships would rotate among members from every state. This would be true representation for all 50 states.

Many members of Congress forget their primary duty is for the good of the whole country above that of their individual state or congressional district. To have only some states with congressional term limits definitely hurts that state’s representation. It appears only a constitutional amendment will provide a uniform process for term limits to ensure just representation.
