The city has its fifth unsolved slaying on its hands this year after a 24-year-old man was found shot to death in his car Tuesday night.
Police were called to the 300 block of Stone Avenue to investigate a report of shots fired and found in a parked car the body of Enrique Ruiz, of the 700 block of Spring Street, with gunshot wounds to the upper body, said Lt. Michael J. Gilloffo.
The area is somewhat secluded, with only three homes nearby, and is close to the river, Gilloffo said.
He said police have not yet determined a motive for the slaying.
Ruiz is the fifth person to be slain in Aurora this year. None of the crimes has been solved.
Police requested that anyone with information on the Ruiz case call 708-859-1099. If tipsters wish to remain anonymous and possibly qualify for a reward off up to $1,000, they may call Aurora Area Crime Stoppers at 708-892-1000, Gilloffo said.
